Health and Wellness consists of all the energy that you expend helping your body and mind work as healthfully as possible. We are each in-charge of the care and maintenance of our body, and our own mental attitude. This includes how you maintain your physical health, how you relate to yourself internally and how you discipline yourself physically and mentally.
Three levels of Wellness
Wellness is an all-encompassing notion that includes finding fulfilment on three levels of human living. The first level is physical well-being, which we simply call well. The second level of wellness is mental wellness, which we call wise. The third level of wellness involves finding personal meaning in your life, which we will call whole. At every step and stage we seek to become, and remain well, wise and whole. This is particularly important in the transition to retirement, for in these years we grow into a level of maturation necessary to really get a grip on these three aspects of wellness.
Each of these levels of human functioning requires special skills that together contribute mightily to your wellness and well-being in retirement.
